Industry applications and specific uses of DOP dioctyl phthalate

DOP is an abbreviation for dioctyl phthalate, a commonly used plasticizer widely used in the plastics, rubber, coatings, and adhesives industries.
The main function of DOP is to improve the flexibility, ductility, and processability of materials, making them easier to mold and use. In PVC products, DOP is one of the most commonly used plasticizers, significantly lowering the glass transition temperature of PVC and improving its low-temperature performance.
Aojin Chemical supplies high-quality, high-content DOP (DOTP). For DOP inquiries, please contact Aojin Chemical!
Industry Applications and Specific Uses of Dioctyl Phthalate (DOP)
DOP is a versatile plasticizer and multifunctional industrial additive with applications spanning plastics, rubber, coatings, HVAC, and other fields. The following are the specific uses and characteristics in major industries:

DOP
AEO-9-tons-barrel

I. Plastics Industry: Core Plasticizer in PVC Processing
DOP is the most widely used primary plasticizer in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production. By lowering the glass transition temperature (Tg) of PVC, it transforms it from a hard and brittle thermoplastic resin into a soft and processable material.
II. Rubber and Resin Industry
DOP has good compatibility with various polymers such as synthetic rubber (styrene-butadiene rubber, neoprene rubber), ABS resin, acetate resin, and chemical fiber resins. It can be used as a softener to improve their processing properties:
Rubber Products: Adding DOP to rubber can reduce its hardness and elastic modulus, enhancing its tear resistance and fatigue resistance. It is used in the production of drive belts (such as automotive timing belts) and seals (such as O-rings).
III. Coatings and Adhesives: Improvers of Film and Adhesion Properties
DOP is an important additive in paints, adhesives, sealants, and other products.
IV. Other Special Applications
Flame Retardant Additive
Leather Additive: Adding a small amount of DOP during the dyeing and polishing process in leather production can enhance the extensibility of leather, improve its softness and feel (such as in leather sofas and shoes), and make leather products more textured.
