It is a pale yellow, viscous liquid that is easily soluble in water and exhibits excellent detergency, emulsification, and foaming properties. It has excellent thickening and foaming properties. For example, the addition of 2% to 5% sodium chloride can easily increase the viscosity of an SLES system.
It is commonly used in daily chemical applications such as liquid detergents, dishwashing detergents, shampoos, and bath detergents. It is also used in the textile, papermaking, leather, machinery, and oil extraction industries.

In cosmetics, SLES 70% can be somewhat irritating and is not suitable for long-term use on sensitive or dry skin.
It is also used in the daily chemical, textile, oil, leather, and printing and dyeing industries. It is used for cleaning, emulsification, wetting, dyeing aid, and diffusion. It exhibits excellent biodegradability and low-temperature performance, a high active ingredient content, and is unaffected by water hardness.
