DL-2-Octanol

2-Octanol is an important chemical intermediate with a variety of industrial applications. Its main uses include:
1. As a raw material for plasticizers: Used in the production of diisooctyl phthalate (DIOP), a commonly used plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which improves the cold resistance, volatility resistance, and flexibility of plastics, and is suitable for plastic films, cable materials, artificial leather, and other products.
2. In the field of solvents and auxiliaries: Used as a co-solvent for coatings, inks, and paints, improving solubility and film toughness; it can also be used as an emulsifier and softener in the textile industry to improve fabric feel and dyeing uniformity, or as a lubricant additive to optimize low-temperature fluidity and oxidation resistance.
3. For the synthesis of surfactants and specialty chemicals: It is a key raw material for the synthesis of non-ionic surfactants, coal flotation agents, and pesticide emulsifiers; it can also be used as a metal ion extractant to efficiently separate non-ferrous metals such as copper, cobalt, and nickel.
4. Applications in the fragrance and pharmaceutical industries: As an intermediate for the synthesis of fragrances, used in the formulation of floral fragrances;
5. Other industrial uses: Including as a solvent for oils and waxes, a defoaming agent, a fiber wetting agent, and for adjusting the viscosity of urea-formaldehyde resins.
