Application

For grain fumigation and refrigeration in low-pressure freezers and air-conditioning units.

Used as solvent, extractant, mutagen

Used in electronics industry. Often used as a cleaning and degreasing agent.

Used as dental local anesthetic, refrigerant, fire extinguishing agent, metal surface paint layer cleaning degreasing and stripping agent and organic synthesis intermediate.

Dichloromethane is also the substance used to make decaffeinated coffee. The coffee is first steamed to dissolve the caffeine and float to the surface, then methylene chloride is used to remove the caffeine.

Dichloromethane has the advantages of strong solubility and low toxicity, and is widely used in the manufacture of safety film, polycarbonate.
